EXCLUSIVE : PETIT Sebastien taking part to the Marathon of New York
With more than 30 000 participants each year, the Marathon of New York is unquestionably the trial of run to the most popular foot of the world. The next 3 November, this race will be my seventh participation in this type of long trial 42,195 kilometers.
That it's taking place in New York or to near of its residence, the preparation of a marathon is not improvised and it's requiring approximately 4 months of specific trainings.
For my part, after the time of 3 hours 14 minutes at the marathons of Paris and of the Rochelle in 2001 and one better performance on the distance of 3 hours and 04 minutes in Rouen, the temptation to realising a "stopwatch" of less of 3 hours in New York is large.
To achieve this objective, I currently carry out a training plan divided in 16 weeks. The first 4 weeks were used to recover a good general physical condition in practising a some endurance sports (race to foot, swimming, bicycle, roller...). Since then, each week is articulated around 5 trainings in race to foot :
Two sittings are reserved for the speed acquisition by exercises of repetitions, one on short distances (8 to 12 times 100, 200 or 300 meters), the other at more consequent distances (3 to 8 times 800, 1000 or 2000 meters).
Two other sittings make it possible to improve the rhythm while working at the speeds to near of the pace of race (14km/h to carry out a marathon in 3 hours).
A ultimate sitting makes it possible to improve the endurance to hold the distance in kilometres. It is carried out with an easy pace during 1h30 to 2h30 (that is to say 18 to 30 kilometers).
On the whole, these 5 sittings represent a weekly mileage of approximately 80 km.
These 5 trainings are supplemented by one or two sittings of swimming or bicycle which recovery favorise and move away the risk from wounds.
Side of the food, the consumption of slow sugar (pastes, rice...) and of fruit and vegetables (vitamins, mineral salt) must be in strong increase, contrary at lipids (cheeses,...) and at fast sugars (pastry,...) which, reduce.
At half of preparation, the sensations and the first tests are encouraging, compared to the laid down objective. However, the last weeks will be decisive in waiting for this great appointment planned at the beginning of November.
